The Black Walnut tree is a rare, fine-grained, hardwood native to New England. Black Walnut wood is prized for its strength, deep rich color and straight grain.  Symbolically, the black walnut tree represents wisdom, knowledge and inspiration.

Spencer is always on the lookout for fallen trees rotting in the woods of central New England. Hidden in those fallen trees is wood disfigured by the beginnings of decomposition. His process of turning that wood on a lathe, followed by drying, sanding, and finishing with natural products, results in these striking bowls. Each bowl creates its own unique story, from the forest, to the lathe, to your kitchen or dining table.
