These are sustainably sourced, upcycled, and handcrafted in New England. The maple tree is beloved throughout New England for it’s maple syrup and vibrant fall foliage. Maple wood is characterized by a smooth grain and unique light color. Spencer upcycles fallen maple trees that are in the early stages of decomposition to get remarkable spalted lines running throughout the wood.

Spencer is always on the lookout for fallen trees rotting in the woods of central New England. Hidden in those fallen trees is wood disfigured by the beginnings of decomposition. His process of turning that wood on a lathe, followed by drying, sanding, and finishing with natural products, results in these striking bowls. Each bowl creates its own unique story, from the forest, to the lathe, to your kitchen or dining table.
